Review
Great fit and cut-true to size
I have had a shorter Ororo jacket for several years, and I love it. We are getting ready to take a winter trip to Norway, and I just really wanted a longer version. It's perfect! I already had extra battery packs (so I will always have an extra charged up and ready). I'm so excited for the trip, and know that I will be toasty warm in even the coldest conditions!
I had to buy an Ororo down jacket because I have the Heated Puffer Parka jacket with Thermolite. I hate the Thermolite. It is constantly coming out of the jacket, resulting in white balls that I have to pull off (my jacket is black). I haven’t had that jacket long and I have not washed it, so I’m not sure why or how it keeps coming out! It makes it look and seem cheap!
This Soho Down Parka is nice and long but a lot lighter than I expected. Apparently 650 fill is not much. It is fairly warm and a Medium gave me plenty of room for a sweatshirt underneath. For reference I am 5’3” and a muscular 125 lbs.
I have many other Ororo items. The vests run small in the hips but I prefer a small in the vest because a tight fit maximizes the heat contact on my body under another jacket (plus they are shorter in the torso so it works). The regular style jackets (fleece and sweater type) are too small in the hips and I wish I had ordered mediums. The Thermolite Parka is way oversized. The small is still big on me. The Soho medium fits like the Heated Puffer Parka small. I have the original jacket in medium and that fits nicely with a little extra room. I have had the original for more than 5 years and that battery is still working well and jacket is still like new. I also have a stadium seat and multiple jackets/vests for my husband and daughter. I love the quality and warmth of these jackets (aside from the Thermolite!!). My next item will probably be a scarf! I have encouraged so many people to buy Ororo items! I feel like an employee at this point!
Side note: I wish the batteries didn’t hit right at the hip either, as it makes them stick out on the tighter fitting vests/jackets. Also, maybe putting the vest batteries on one side and the jacket batteries on the other so you can double up without stacking batteries, would be an improvement. Thanks!
I wanted this longer down jacket for a while. I have several Ororo jackets. Our family are big fans! When my daughter asked for one for Christmas, I thought, ‘Oh well, I’ll live vicariously through her.’ Anyway, I ended up winning one and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I walk my dog exclusively because we do not have a fenced in yard. So, our Ohio winter has been especially rough. This keeps me much warmer. Initially I had to exchange my small for a medium. As a regular small, sometimes even xs, it felt tight in the shoulders and sometimes arms. I felt restricted. I still occasionally feel that way. Even in the medium, but I would swim in the large in the hips and body. If it weren’t for the sizing issues; it would be a solid 5!
The arms are much tighter and across the shoulders. Can not wear heavy sweater with it. May return I had a XL last year which fit much better and could wear sweater but I lost over 50 lbs and bought a Large. Size seems off for the price.
